On December 3rd, Chianti turned an ordinary Wednesday evening into something quietly special. As part of WOW Wednesdays at Forum South Mall, we hosted a hands-on ravioli workshop in collaboration with The Gather Bangalore.

What unfolded over two hours was not just a cooking class, but a shared experience rooted in food, stories, laughter, and the simple joy of making something with your hands.

The Setting

Ingredients for pasta on a table: flour, eggs, lemons, tomatoes, spaghetti, with "PASTA CLUB" text. Setting is bright and inviting.

Guests arrived to a warm welcome from The Gather and Chianti teams, settling into their stations, alongside fresh flowers as cameras quietly captured candid moments. A playful surprise awaited everyone at their seats: Pasta Bingo cards, with just one instruction for now, we will explain soon.

Opening the Evening

The workshop opened with introductions by Adarshika and Iciri from The Gather, who shared the idea behind WOW Wednesdays and why Chianti felt like the perfect partner for a pasta-led evening.

Chianti’s philosophy was introduced simply and honestly. Italian food, at its heart, is about restraint, respect for ingredients, and recipes that have survived generations because they work. That philosophy shaped both the menu and the workshop.

A Quick Journey Through Pasta

Before aprons went on, guests were taken through a short, engaging introduction to pasta.

  • How early dough-based foods existed long before modern pasta

  • How boiled pasta gained popularity in medieval Italy

  • Why cities like Naples and Genoa became pasta powerhouses

  • How pasta travelled across continents and evolved into hundreds of shapes

This naturally led to a deeper understanding of stuffed pasta, and why ravioli is more than just a comfort dish.

At this point, Pasta Bingo officially began. As chef tips, trivia, and myths surfaced through the evening, guests ticked off squares, waiting for the moment they could shout “AL DENTE!”

Hands-On Ravioli Making

Hand preparing ravioli on floured surface, cutter nearby. Metal cutter and dough scraps visible. Warm lighting, homey mood.

The heart of the evening was the chef-led ravioli workshop.

Chef Mani demonstrated:

  • Dough preparation and resting

  • Rolling and shaping

  • Filling and sealing techniques

  • Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Guests then stepped in, rolling dough, filling pockets, laughing over imperfect shapes, and slowly finding their rhythm.

Between hands-on moments, the room came alive with:

  • Mini pasta quizzes

  • Chef’s tip breaks on flour, kneading, and sealing

  • Pasta myth busters that surprised even seasoned home cooks

From why olive oil does nothing in boiling water to why pasta water should taste like the sea, learning stayed light, memorable, and fun.

From Kitchen to Community Table

Once the ravioli were ready, they were taken into the kitchen for cooking while mocktails were prepared. A live sauce demonstration followed, tying together everything guests had just learned.

As plates returned to the table, so did the energy. The women gathered for a shared tasting, enjoying the ravioli they had made themselves, paired with mocktails and conversation.

The Gather team guided an easy, thoughtful discussion around:

  • Cooking memories

  • Favourite comfort foods

  • First impressions versus final outcomes

Before closing, Pasta Bingo winners were celebrated with applause and photos, followed by a warm thank you from Chianti, Forum South Mall, and The Gather Bangalore.

Why Workshops Like These Matter

Chianti’s food has always been about more than the plate. Workshops like this allow us to slow things down, invite people into the process, and build real connections around Italian cuisine.

Whether it is pasta-making, wine experiences, or chef-led tastings, these moments reflect what we believe dining should feel like. Warm, inclusive, and shared.

If this evening is anything to go by, there is much more to come.
